Re-Instate is a long-estalished local charity working to improve employment opportunities, quality of life and well-being for disadvantaged people in the London Borough of Bexley including people experiencing mental ill-health, people with learning disabilities and young people.
One of our newest projects is W-rap™.
Re-Instates W-rap™ Project (Well-being, Recovery, Activity Parcels) is entirely co-produced and managed by people who use our services.
The W-rap™ story so far…
During one of our ideas groups, clients said they wanted a better quality of toiletries and some practical items/activities for long term hospital stays. This gave us the idea to……..
-Provide a series of parcels designed to be gifted at specific points during a person’s recovery journey
-Design a monthly mail-order care package for people in need
-Apply for funding to trial the ideas in hospitals
The term W-rap ™ stands for Wellbeing, Recovery , Activity Parcels. Our name was created by us and is now Trade-marked.
The parcels are designed to provide at least five full-sized items associated with The New Economics Foundations’ Five Ways to Well-being to encourage people to incorporate these five actions into their lives.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing are a set of evidence-based actions which promote wellbeing, outlined as; Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. You can learn more here.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing will remain an integral part of the decision making process when incorporating products into our range.
After being awarded funding by first South London and the Maudsley Hospitals ‘Smile’ Campaign and then by the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers, our client led project team began work in earnest.
Our first mission was to design hospital admission packs, activity packs and going home packs for patients on long-stay wards at the Maudsley Hospital.
Going forward, we would like to develop W-rap™ to support many different groups of the local community, including older people who may be isolated in their homes, younger people who may be engaging with hospital services for the first time and people recovering from long-term illness.
Any money raised through the Bexley Community Lottery will go towards developing the W-rap™ project and enabling Re-Instate to support an increasing number of people in need of our help.
